Interview on BA Bergensavisen Interview on BA Bergensavisen
The Bergen Newspaper interviews us 23/08/2012 SWITCHED SUN WITH RAIN IN BERGEN It had to be an Italian band to dare calling themselves A Rainy Day in Bergen. – The atmosphere here is fantastic, says Pasquale Aliberti. They come from sunny Salerno on the Italian west coast. Yet, the electronic pop band calls themselves A Rainy Day In Bergen. - We were looking for a name that could reflect the atmosphere in our music. It’s not so Italian, more Northern European. And then we thought of Bergen, which is famous for its many rainy days. We have heard about the “Bergen Wave” and Kings of Convenience. A Rainy Day In Bergen is both cool and a bit funny, thinks the bassist Pasquale Aliberti. Our German Record Company was also attracted by the dark atmosphere in the band. - Coming back This week the Italians have been to their first visit in Bergen. - It’s a very cozy city. The atmosphere was like we expected, smiles the bassist. - We had a fantastic day on the fjord, and will probably be back soon. People here are so friendly. Some thinks that northern Europeans are cold minded, but that doesn’t apply for people from Bergen. The Italians was not frightened by the thunder and lightning. – We appreciated the show, they laugh. Before they came to Bergen, A Rainy Day In Bergen visited Oslo. – Bergen is so much better. Oslo feels empty in comparison, while Bergen is full of nice things, thinks Aliberti. - When we stood on top of Fløyen, we wanted to stay for several months making new songs. But we’re not Rolling Stones, so we can’t stay that long. Still, something remains. - Do you really like rain? – Yes, you might get tired of the rain if it lasts for many days, but it’s something special about that atmosphere. We are also Italians, and like the sun, ensure the bassist. - Why don’t you make more sunny music? – We just make the music we want to play. Italy has also a strong underground scene, thinks Pasquale Aliberti. A Rainy Day In Bergen dreams about a European tour next year. – Because of the name, we also want to have a concert here. - Interview by @[623001212:2048:Ann Kristin Ødegård] - Translation by @[100000022941907:2048:Fredrik Henriksen]
